In keeping with its strong commitment to diversity and sustainability, Wells Fargo has purchased 100 Green Advantage exam vouchers that will be transferred to the National Hispanic Construction Association members. NHCA members selected to receive these vouchers, will use them as means to become better qualified to work on green construction jobs, by passing the exam and becoming Green Advantage Certified.
Established with funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency, Green Advantage Certification is nationally recognized by the American Institute of Architects, the US Green Building Council, the Green Building Certification Institute, the National Association of Home Builders and Associated Builders and Contractors. Applicable to multiple green building rating systems, the US Green Building Council has approved the use of Green Advantage® Certified personnel for a LEED® Innovation Credit in eligible projects seeking LEED® Certification.
NHCA will be working with its chapters to begin distributing the exam vouchers in the near future. Green Advantage was featured at NHCA’s recent national conference in Washington, DC. Maria Patricia Corrales, NHCA Chair, said that: “We are very pleased to have Wells Fargo’s support in making this unique opportunity available to our members and will continue working hard to make sure this is a very successful initiative with outstanding results”.
“At Wells Fargo, we are committed to helping diverse-owned businesses grow through education and partnership development opportunities,” said Sonya Dukes, Senior Vice-President and head of Supplier Diversity at Wells Fargo & Company. “This unique partnership with Green Advantage is just one of the many ways we help suppliers develop their business. We believe that together with our partners and diverse suppliers, we can contribute to the long term economic sustainability of our communities.”
