CEO MESSAGE:

It is will intrigue as well realistic optimism that I celebrate my first 90 days of engagement as the lead executive of the NHCA! And I thank you for your continued interest and support of  the National Hispanic Construction Association (NHCA), the premier national building and construction trade organization representing Hispanic American and immigrant construction business owners, construction managers, professionals, workers and construction focused students from across our nation.

As the premier national organizational committed to advocating for the growth and advancement of Hispanics in the construction industry, it it with a great sense of urgency that we embark with the establishment of a 2013 Legislative platform that seeks to draw support for such important issues of concern to Hispanics active in the construction industry. While legislative issues continually evolve, our preliminary examination of the issues to date, issues that most negatively impact Hispanic construction contractors and Hispanic workers, has led us to a short list that rise to the top. It is this short list of priorities that will draw our attention and advocate focus. We will work through all reasonable means to convene and implement support and favorable legislative action, action that we will seek to call for through an all inclusive advocacy campaign that will seek to enlist, as partners in support, all associations and entities as well as stakeholders from across the construction industry during this 2013 legislative action season and beyond.

From a need to double down with support of small business contracting goal-setting practices with enforceable measures to determine if these goals are being met, to strenuous adaptation and enforcement of safety standards and practices on construction work-sites, to passage of comprehensive immigration reforms that enables and recognizes expanded contributions of Hispanics and other immigrants toward the improvement of our economy, to expanded effort to ensure prompt payment provisions in contracts that facilitate reasonable and timely payment to small business contractors for work performed, to implementation of supplier diversity practices that help expand opportunity and business growth, to many other areas of focus, clearly a full plate with many challenges that lay ahead. We will strive to meet these challenges head-on, seeking to strive forward, in concert with the many other voices of reason, seeking to successfully and inclusively grow the construction industry toward new heights, inclusive new heights of value to our economic well-being as a nation.

On behalf of the NHCA, I urge you to join us with this committed to forge ahead with an invigorated sense of urgency and dedication to accomplish and create greater financial stability and wealth building opportunities for Hispanic construction contractors, Hispanic construction workers, and Hispanic communities across the nation.

Sincerely yours,
Frank Lopez
